Unsworth, a leading independent freight forwarder, has announced the appointment of Thomas Kuehn as the Managing Director of its UK business. This leadership transition comes as part of a strategic reshuffle, with Richard Hogg, the current Managing Director, stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer for the Unsworth Group. Meanwhile, Charles Hogg will lead the company’s client solutions team as Commercial Director.

Kuehn's arrival marks a significant milestone in a pivotal year for Unsworth, as we are celebrating our 50th anniversary since our establishment in 1974. With an extensive career in freight forwarding, Kuehn brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the business.

A Proven Track Record of Leadership

Prior to joining Unsworth, Kuehn spent nearly a decade as Managing Director at World Transport Agency (WTA), where he played a key role in driving the company’s growth. His professional background also includes a decade-long tenure at JE Bernard as Global Key Account Director, as well as a directorship at Kuehne+Nagel, one of the world’s largest logistics companies.

Kuehn shared his enthusiasm for his new role, stating:

“My vision for the future of freight forwarding aligns perfectly with Unsworth’s demonstrable investment in technological innovation and business processes, proven commitment to client satisfaction, and the promotion of a culture of continuous improvement.

Technology has been a huge enabler of the company’s growth and will continue to be so. In my new role, I see a tremendous opportunity to further leverage data and technological solutions to better serve our customers and differentiate us from our competition.”

Strengthening Leadership in a Golden Jubilee Year

Richard Hogg, now Group CEO of Unsworth, emphasised the importance of this appointment during a landmark year for the company:

“In a landmark year for the company, this appointment is part of our ongoing strategy to strengthen our senior management team and capabilities to ensure that we can meet our expansion goals in the UK and overseas.”

Unsworth’s focus on innovation and client satisfaction has been instrumental in its growth over the last five decades. With Kuehn’s expertise and leadership, the company is poised to further accelerate its expansion while continuing to deliver cutting-edge solutions to its customers.

Looking Ahead

As Unsworth celebrates its golden jubilee, the appointment of Thomas Kuehn underscores its commitment to evolving and adapting in a dynamic industry. With a focus on leveraging technology and enhancing customer experience, the company is well-positioned to remain a leader in the independent freight forwarding sector.
