Import Customer Service Operator – Ipswich

Do you have proven import ocean freight experience and are you looking for a fresh new challenge? A new Import Customer Care Operator position has arisen in our Ipswich branch.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Effectively coordinate transport arrangements for a portfolio of clients
  • Responsible for handling FCL and LCL ocean freight shipments from start to finish while delivering excellent customer care.
  • Ensuring all customers are served in line with their Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Submitting accurate import Customs entries in accordance with HMRC regulations.
  • Arranging transport to final delivery point in line with client requirements and negotiating rates with haulier in order to optimise profit margins.
  • Ensuring shipments are correctly rated and invoiced.
  • Communicating effectively with all parties in order to arrange smooth shipping of cargo.
  • Building relationship with customers in order to maximise further business opportunities, understand their needs and add value.
  • Run and analyse internal Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports for customers and monitor performance against established KPIs for the customer.
  • Resolving any customer queries or complaints.

Required experience, skills and qualities:

If you are a reliable and conscientious person with experience working in a busy office environment, our Import Customer Service role may be a fantastic opportunity for you. The ideal candidate will have:

    • Proven import sea freight experience in a similar role is essential
    • Knowledge of import customs regulations with previous experience in submitting import customs entries is preferable
    • Experience with CargoWise One is preferable

Job Description

    This apprenticeship includes a full and comprehensive training programme on the job to give you the foundations you need for a successful long term career in IT.
    As well as access to our internal Award Winning staff training and development programme, you will receive offsite training and assessor visits to support you in achieving an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 qualification.

    This is a 15 month apprenticeship with great potential for permanent employment on completion.

    Your training and job duties will include:

  • Providing first level support and troubleshooting problems for 70+ internal users including monitoring and troubleshooting systems
  • Effectively record, analyse and communicate data at the appropriate level using the available tools and processes
  • Securely operate across various platform and controlling daily security requirements and backups
