Case study: Over Height, Over Width

Shipping out of gauge lathes

Weight: 52000 kgs

Length: 15300mm

Width: 4200 mm

Height: 3600 mm

Background

The client previously let down by their carrier appointed Unsworth UK to facilitate the movement of two out of gauge lathes originating in Taiwan.

Our project team in conjunction with our overseas partners micro managed the movement from factory to quay, oversaw the loading and then confirmed a clean on board bill of laden. The shipment arrived in the UK in good condition at which point our port operation co-coordinated the unloading with the port authorities at Felixstowe.

Our projects team set up a carefully coordinated customs clearance to dovetail with arrangements already in place to uplift the equipment for re-loading to specialised low load transport. Owing to height of equipment and the clients rural locations a number of low bridges needed to be negotiated or circumnavigated along with some street furniture arrangements. Prompt arrangements to lift the equipment straight from the Mafi on the quayside to  avoid  additional costs put in place, the cargo safely loaded directly to low load transport thus ensuring a smooth, seamless on time delivery.

Outcome

By careful handling, Unsworth UK significantly reduced this clients past claims ratio as well as reducing transportation costs.

We have now been appointed to co-ordinate the movement of their out of gauge shipment.
